Do not miss our end of the year picnic and celebration on August 5th! If you are planning to attend please be sure to bring a dish. If your last name ends in A-M bring a side dish and if your last name ends in N-Z please bring a dessert. The team will supply the main dish. There will be awards and some family competition so come ready to celebrate a great season! The fun begins at 5:00pm.

Less than a week remaining in our swim season. Less than a week to have parents step up to fill the Board positions needed for next year. You can nominate yourself or someone else - they do not need to be present on Sunday, but we need confirmation of their willingness to accept the nomination.

13-18 practice will start at 7am all 11& 12 yrs.  are invited to join in this practice.

9-12 practice will start at 8:15am 7 & 8 yrs. Can come to this practice

And 8 and under regular time 9:30am

There will be clinics Monday 30, and Tuesday 31

 

Tuesday 31, is regular times for all practices

 

Wednesday 1^st,  Half practice, half fun day

 

Thursday 2, is regular practice times

 

Friday 3, is meet morning and our last day of practices  and our annual Breakfast.  Please bring a dish or something to share with your team mates and coaches. 

 

Saturday 4, RSL Finals  - 10 and under report to the Spotsy YMCA BY 6:30AM

                                           11 and up report by 10:30AM

Parents: If your child is swimming at Finals, Cathy will be contacting you to sign up for a job.

Sunday 5, Awards Banquet - this is at the North Pool starting at 5:00pm. It is a pot luck, with the team supplying the main dish. Details on what each family should bring to share will be put out in the next day or two. Each family brings their own drinks, and chairs are suggested. (we are a swim team at the pool, so of course swimming will happen)

We will be electing new Board members on Sunday. We have five (5) spots to fill, I have some express willlingness to serve on the Board, but we still need more.

We have completed our dual meet season and only have Finals left. Coach Jay (usa_aus@verizon.net) needs to know ASAP if your child will not be swimming in Finals. They are planning the meet NOW and have a meeting on Saturday morning to do all the entries (seed the meet), in preparation for printing the Heat Sheet.

At the Awards Banquet we will hold the Annual Meeting of the membership to elect new Board members. At this point one person has let me know they are willing to serve on the Board. This is great, but we need a total of FIVE.

Think about all your child gets out of being part of swim team, the friends they have made, the friend you have made and what you can do to keep the team around for your child and others. The swim team was begun 17 years ago and I'd love to see around for another 17 and beyond.

First a word from Coach Jay:

Dear Swimmers and Parents,

 

One more regular season meet to go Monday 23^rd , it's a home meet against Regency please if you are not going to be here for that meet let me ASAP by e-mail. 

 

The coaches and I are getting ready for finals  this means 2 days of planning, no evening clinics this week and if you are not going to be at finals August 4^th please let me know by Wednesday 25^th .  Once the entries have been put in the computer on Saturday 28^th I cannot change the entries, we are only allowed so many in each event including free so please let me know ASAP

Next a word from Concessions:

Can you send out an email to see if anyone can pick up the ice from the southpoint McDonald's for Monday's meet?  They would just need to be at the pool around 4:00 to get the bins and pick up the ice around 4:30.  Thanks!

Next a word from the Board:

There is just two weeks before our Awards Banquet, on Sunday August 5th, to finish the season. At the Banquet we will hold the Annual meeting of the membership to elect new Board members. We need five (5) parents to step up to serve on the Board. Maybe you would like to fill a particular position, maybe you are just willing to serve on the Board in whatever capacity is needed. Please let me know as soon as possible of your willingness. Do you know someone who would be good? Nominate them, I'll talk with them to see if they are willing.

An email will be sent out this week with details for the Awards Banquet, but for anyone that is new - it's held at the Pool on Sunday August 5th (the day after Finals), it's a potluck. We swim, we eat, and we recognize our swimmers. A break down of what to bring will be sent out this week.

Cathy will be getting a list of jobs we need to fill for Finals. Once she gets that she will add to mysignups.com so that you can fill the positions. Thanks in advance for helping.

Now, we have one meet and Finals left (you know what's coming), and we need five (5) parents to step up to be on the Board next year. I haven't listed specific positions, for a couple reasons. The first, and most important, is getting 5 parents that are willing to work together to accomplish the needed tasks, they can utilize each of their strengths. Second, is the roles of each position have morphed over the years to include more/less than what is listed in the handbook description, but what was needed at the time. Third, some times a title scares people away (Chair isn't really that bad!), but being on the Board isn't quite as bad. But for those that want position titles - Chair, Vice-Chair, RSL Rep, Meet Director, and Fundraiser/Spirit. I've attached the descriptions of Board positions as they stand now. I have asked the current Board members to write up what they actually do.

If you don't see a picture of your child, or you would like a particular picture please let Sandy or Cliff know. They try very hard to get pictures of everyone, but with the way the kids move around (and they don't all have team suits) it is hard to be certain to get everyone.

Wednesday July 18th is an away meet against Grafton (directions on the website and facebook page). Swimmers should arrive by 4:45p and check in with the coaches. Parents should check in with Cathy to see if she has any jobs that need filling.

Attached is a menu from Grafton. Below is a note from there RSL Rep:

The Grafton Dolphins are excited to host the Lee's Hill Lightening on Wednesday.  It's been a while since we've meet at our pool, so I wanted to remind you that parking is very limited.  Most people will need to park on the street.  Our neighbors would appreciate it if everyone would be sure that their cars are entirely off the pavement and not blocking any driveways.  The roads are narrow in Grafton Village so sloppy parking tends to draw the attention of the Sherriff's Department. 

 

We also want you to know that we run a full concessions service.  We've attached a menu so your swimmers and parents can plan their dinner with us.

Great job tonight to all the swimmers and parents!! I don't  know the final score, I'll post that later. Just a few quick reminders:

Practice is at the regular time tomorrow (Tuesday).
NO evening clinic tomorrow (Tuesday)
Meet is Thursday night at home. Swimmers should arrive at 4:15 for the team picture - you can gather on the hill, outside the fence, behind the shed.

If you would like to place an ad in the Finals Heat Sheet, you need to submit the ad and payment by Thursday night. They can be put in the box in the Haines family folder. The form was sent out last night and is on the website.

If you have a swimmer that graduated from high school this year and/or will age out please let me know:
         The number of years they've swum for Lee's Hill
         If they swam year round and/or for college
         Where they will be going to college and their major

Due to the condition of the pool after the storm practice this morning has been cancelled. Coach Jay is at the pool to give out your events for the meet tonight. The meet tonight HAS NOT been cancelled.

Greetings everyone,

Two meets this week:
       Monday, July 9th - at Chancellor Swim Club, this is on the East bound side of Rt. 3, link for directions is on the website. Swimmers should be at the pool at 4:45pm and check in with the coaches. All parents should check in with Cathy when you arrive to make certain she has all jobs covered. We had a few more swimmers drop off the team this week.

      Thursday, July 12th - at home (against Dahlgren). Swimmers should be at the pool by 4:15 (we are going to try to take a team picture before the meet). Parents that are doing set up should arrive at 4:00pm.

Attached is the information on placing an ad in the Finals Heat Sheet. All ads need to be submitted in the correct size (on an 8x10 paper) ready to be printed with a check payable to Lee's Hill Swim Team no later than the meet on Thursday evening.

We are nearly at the half way point in the season (after the meet tomorrow night we will have 3 down/3 to go). We will need at least 5 parents to step up to be on the Board for next year. Please consider being one of those parents.
