Greetings from the Lee's Hill Swim Team!!  Happy Spring!!

Summer is approaching rapidly.   We had a great Ice Cream Social and the excitement for the 2013 summer swim season is growing quickly.   Even though the social has come and gone, there is still opportunity to register and be on the team!  We would love to have you join us.  You can find the registration application online at our website: golightning.org.    Don't forget to friend us on our Facebook page: Lee's Hill Lightning Swim Team, as well, to stay informed with the teams' practices, meets, fundraisers, etc.  We are making an extra effort this year to keep all our available electronic information up to date and accurate.  So please use these mediums as your go-to, as much as possible.  Team registration continues through June 14, 2013. Don't delay!  Join the fun!

Practices will begin on May 28 in the evening. Morning practices will begin when school is out for the summer.   Head swim coach Jay,  the Assistant coach and the student coaches anticipate a fun and successful season!  Last year we had 107 swimmers; will you be on the team this summer?

There are many volunteer positions required to run our meets.  Some require formal training through the RSL. These positions include: referee, starter, head timer, stroke and turn, clerk of course, and head scorer. Be on the front line with our swimmers!  See all the action up close and personal.  As this is being written, the RSL has not announced all the training dates, so watch our website and Facebook page for more training dates!  At this point, we have these known training sessions:

June 1 from 9-11 AM at Fox Point

June 5 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at LeeLand Station

June 8 from 9-11 AM at Hampton Oaks

Saturday 15 Jun 2013, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Lake Wilderness

We challenge each swimming family to be trained in at least one position! If interested, the Lee's Hill Swim Team can reimburse you for training.  Volunteers are imperative to the team - for trained and untrained positions.  Over the course of the season we will rely on over 2500 hours of volunteer time to support our team and kids!  Remember, when your kids are registered swimmers, you are committed to volunteering 6 half meets or 3 full meets.

There is always the opportunity for team sponsorship, too!!  If you own, or know a local business interested in team sponsorship, look on our website for the sponsor form. There are a variety of sponsor levels - even a patron level for families!!!  The team relies on sponsorship to cover costs of equipment (lane lines, PA systems and ribbons), coach stipends and training reimbursements to name a few of the team expenses.

We hope your family will be joining the swim team this summer.   It's a great way to stay fit in a team environment, make new friends and stay in touch with old friends during the summer.   If you have an interest in the team, but still have questions, look for us on the web and get to know us better, or contact me!

Go Lightning!
