FW: Swim Team End of Year Banquet and Spirit Night

Subject: Swim Team End of Year Banquet and Spirit Night

Hi Lightning families!

There are two fun events coming up for our Lightning swimmers and families-- the end of year banquet and a spirit night at Grioli's.

On Wednesday, July 31st we are having a spirit night at Grioli's Pizzeria at Cosner's Corner from 5pm-10pm.  Grioli's has been generous enough to offer to donate a portion of proceeds to our Lightning Swim Team. Please bring along the flyers that have been handed out and that were placed in your family folder in the "ribbon box" at practice this morning.  If your children are willing to stand outside the restaurant and hand out more flyers that evening, please have them wear a Lightning t-shirt.  See you at Grioli's and let me know if you need another flyer!

We are coming to the end of a wonderful season and it's time to start planning for the end of year banquet celebration.  The banquet will be held on Sunday, August 4th, the day after finals.  This is a pot luck style banquet, with the swim team providing burgers and hot dogs.  The banquet will start at 5:00 and includes time for families to swim, dinner, and then the presentation of awards for the year.

We hope you can attend this very fun event!  We are requesting that you send an e-mail as soon as possible, to this e-mail address, tamstohr14@gmail.com, to let us know if your family will be attending and an idea of how many will be in your party.  This is so we can purchase the burgers and hot dogs for the appropriate number of people.

We ask that each family bring a dish to share (enough for approximately 15 people), based upon your last name.

A-F, please bring a fruit dish

G-K, please bring a salad (e.g. green, potato, pasta)

L-Q, please bring a pasta or casserole dish (e.g. mac and cheese,

   tortellini, etc.)

 R-Z, please bring a dessert.

(If your dish requires a serving utensil, please provide)

Again, please let us know as soon as possible if you are able to attend and an approximate number.

See you at Grioli's next Wednesday!

"When I go out and race, I'm not trying to beat opponents, I'm trying to beat what I have done ... to beat myself, basically. People find that hard to believe because we've had such a bias to always strive to win things. If you win something and you haven't put everything into it, you haven't actually achieved anything at all. When you've had to work hard for something and you've got the best you can out of yourself on that given day, that's where you get satisfaction from."
Ian Thorpe
