Lightning News - Friday Breakfast and Sunday's Awards Celebration

Hi Lightning families!

As we enter the last week of a wonderful swim team season, there are two fun events coming up for our Lightning swimmers and families—the swim team breakfast and the end of the year banquet.

After each practice this Friday, swimmers will enjoy a swim team breakfast.    Please send in a breakfast food to share for EACH swimmer in your family, which will be shared directly following their swim session.  For example , if you have a swimmer in both the first and second session, please send food to share for both sessions.  Ideas for food can be fruit, pastries, donuts, muffins, or casseroles.  If it requires a serving utensil, please provide.

The end of year banquet will be held on Sunday, August 3rd, the day after finals.  This is a pot luck style banquet, with the swim team providing burgers and hot dogs.  The banquet will start at 5:00pm and includes time for families to swim, eat dinner, elect new board members, and then the presentation of awards for the year.

We ask that each family bring a dish to share (enough for approximately 15 people), based upon your last name.

A-F,  please bring a dessert

G-K, please bring a pasta or casserole dish (e.g. mac and cheese,  tortellini, etc)

L-Q, please bring a salad (e.g. green, potato, pasta)

R-Z, please bring a fruit dish

Also bring drinks for your family, and if your dish requires a serving utensil, please provide.

We hope you can attend these fun events!   Don’t forget to RSVP with the Banquet Evite you received to let us know if your family will be attending so we can purchase the burgers and hot dogs for the appropriate number of people.

See you soon!

"When I go out and race, I'm not trying to beat opponents, I'm trying to beat what I have done ... to beat myself, basically. People find that hard to believe because we've had such a bias to always strive to win things. If you win something and you haven't put everything into it, you haven't actually achieved anything at all. When you've had to work hard for something and you've got the best you can out of yourself on that given day, that's where you get satisfaction from."

Lee's Hill Lightning News - HELP NEEDED for Wednesday Nights Meet against Grafton

Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

For the first time this year, I am need of a lot of volunteer help for Wednesday night’s Swim met against Grafton.

I need help in both the first and second half of the meet.

If you are unsure of your six half or three full meet sign ups, please let me know and I can send you a report of how many positions you have signed up for so far this year.

Hope that everyone is having a great weekend so far!

Without volunteers all this would not be possible!  I appreciate all of our volunteers , and especially some who have gone way above the call of duty!

Also – we have a lot of Board Members that have been on the board for the three year maximum per our bylaws.  Please think about volunteering/joining the board for next year.

This will be one of the items discussed at the Annual Meeting on August 3rd during the Awards Banquet. It really is not too bad – I promise!

I have had a really wonderful time working with a  great group of people over the past two years. If you are interested please speak with Shari or any other board member.

See you at the pool!

Go lightning!
