Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,
I hope everybody is having a great weekend!
Here is an update for Monday’s July 1st HOME meet against the College Heights Gators.
Monday’s Schedule:
The pool closes at 4:00 PM on Monday. That is when the Meet Set up volunteers will begin to get the pool ready for the meet.
Swimmers are to report to the pool at 4:30 PM and check in with Coach Jay by 4:45 PM
Home Team warm ups start at 5:00 PM
Away Team arrives at 5:00 PM (or before) and warms up at 5:30
All Lane Timers will meet with the Head Timer near Concessions at 5:45 PM
All Stroke and Turn & Runners will meet with the Referee at 5:45 PM near the starter’s tent.
Meet Starts promptly at 6:00 PM.
The home team sits on the clubhouse side of the pool.
Everyone has done a fantastic job signing up for volunteer positions! Thank you all for the great support!
I will be sending out a report after this meet, on where all the families stand on their volunteer obligations.
I am still in need of a few volunteers for the following very important trained positions:
Head Clerk of Course* | First Half |
Referee* | First Half |
Head Clerk of Course* | Second Half |
I will be doing my best to act as the Administrative Referee for Mike K. during the meet. If you did not notice during our home meet – Mike did a fantastic job as Referee keeping the meet moving and dealing with any issues that came up quickly. Great Job and Thanks!
Shari will “SEEDING” the meet as Head Clerk of Course before the meet starts, but will then be the Starter during the first half of the meet.
HELP NEEDED!
I would ask that if anyone has Clerk of Course experience (or not) that they please help out “SEATING” the swimmers. We are only required to have three Clerks of Course by the RSL and we are short one anyway because we do not have a Head Clerk of Course signed up. Another lesson learned on my part – a few more volunteers helping to organize the swimmers at the Clerk of Course really helps to make the meet run smoothly. If you are interested please let me know (and report to the Clerk of Course), and I will give you credit for volunteering.
We also really need some volunteers for the scoring room at future meets! No Training required! Job will be explained to you by the Head Scorer. The job description is also listed on the website. If you have the training for any of the other positions listed and you can help – please go to SignUpGenius and sign up.
Let us all keep our fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate tomorrow night. If there is a weather delay – I will do my best to keep you all informed as to what is going on. Keep in mind that according to the RSL no decision can be made until 7:30 PM with regard to cancelling the meet in the event of bad weather. So be prepared to hang out in your vehicles while we wait out any passing storms. Also, remember the makeup day for any cancelled meet is scheduled for the next night. Volunteers and swimmers please plan accordingly. Another lesson learned – next year I will try to create a text message system to keep everyone informed in these situations. For now, Shari will update the team Facebook page with delay messages or information. I will also send out an e-mail.
Reminder about the "Missed Meet" Form - please notify Coach Jay if your child will not be at the meet. Hopefully, you have already notified Coach Jay about this week’s meet, but if not, do so via e-mail immediately. (Don't forget to mention all the swimmers in your family that won't be there). The form is on the website, in the Family Box at the pool during practice, or you can email Coach Jay at usa_aus@verizon.net.
Let’s all have a GREAT, SAFE and FUN second HOME meet cheering on all our Lightning Swimmers!!
See you at the pool!
Go Lightning!
