Lightning News - Friday Breakfast and Sunday's Awards Celebration

 

Hi Lightning families!

 

As we enter the last week of a wonderful swim team season, there are two fun events coming up for our Lightning swimmers and families—the swim team breakfast and the end of the year banquet.

 

After each morning practice on Friday, August 5th, swimmers will enjoy a swim team breakfast.    Please send in a breakfast food item to share for EACH swimmer in your family. For example , if you have a swimmer in both the first and second  session, please send food to share for both sessions.  Ideas for food can be fruit, pastries, donuts, muffins, or casseroles.  If your item requires a serving utensil, please provide. Also, please provide drinks on your own. This is a swimmers ONLY event to ensure we have enough food for the kids. 

 

The end of year banquet will be held on Sunday, August 7th, the day after finals.  The banquet will be at the SOUTH side pool and will be held rain or shine.  This is a pot luck style banquet, with the swim team providing burgers and hot dogs.  The banquet will start at 5:00 pm and includes time for families to swim, eat dinner, elect new board members, and then the presentation of awards for the year. 

 

We ask that each family bring a dish to share (enough for approximately 15 people), based upon your last name.

 

A-F,  please bring a dessert

 

G-K, please bring a pasta or casserole dish (e.g. mac and cheese,  tortellini, etc.)

 

L-Q, please bring a salad (e.g. green, potato, pasta)

 

R-Z, please bring a fruit dish

 

Also, please bring drinks for your family, and if your dish requires a serving utensil, please provide.

 

We hope you can attend these fun events!   You will be receiving an e-mail Evite for the banquet.  Please, please RSVP via that e-mail.  It is important that we know how many family members will be attending the banquet so that we can purchase the burgers and hot dogs for the appropriate number of people. If you have any problems with the Evite, please e-mail us directly (lizziep05@aol.com).

2016 RSL FINALS - IMPORTANT!!

Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

 

It is VERY important and mandatory to let Coach Claire know NOW if your swimmer will NOT be at the RSL Finals on Saturday August 6^th.

 

Please e-mail Coach Claire immediately at:   leeshillcoach@gmail.com  if you will NOT be at RSL Finals. The absolute deadline for letting Coach Claire know if you will NOT be at Finals is this Friday morning by 9:00 AM.

 

Coach Claire is at this moment planning for Finals, the seeding for ALL ENTRIES is THIS Saturday morning where all entries are finalized.

 

She needs to hear immediately if you will NOT be swimming at Finals.

 

The team pays a $7.00 charge per swimmer to swim in Finals that must be paid to the RSL.

 

If your swimmer will NOT be swimming at Finals, and you do not contact the coach, you are taking away an opportunity from another swimmer to swim in an event because there are ONLY six entries per event per team. These entries cannot be changed once they are submitted.

 

More information regarding RSL Finals will be coming soon. I hope that every Lee’s Hill Lightning swimmer will be at Finals.

Lee's Hill Lightning News - Meet Results

Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

 

Well that was a hot swim meet last night – in more way than one! But we all made it through our final home meet of the year.

 

Our swimmers did a wonderful job!  As well as all our volunteers!  I think the meet ran very smoothly. 

 

Last night - every link in the chain worked together like clockwork.  A special thanks to everyone from me: Our wonderful Clerk of Course – that sent all the swimmers to the blocks quickly and on time, the scoring room that always runs flawlessly, our Head Timers, Runners and Lane Timers that properly record all those important times , all of our Stroke and Turn Officials that work very hard keeping our swimmers fair and legal, and our starters that launch all those races! The set up and breakdown of the meet also went very smoothly – thanks to ALL those that helped! To ALL volunteers – every job is important and I appreciate your commitment to supporting your swimmers.

 

Great job to all our concession workers and our concession board members who make sure we have great food and drink. They help us raise a lot of money for the team to keep our fees extremely reasonable through all their hard work.

 

Thanks to ALL our Coaches for the great job they are doing every day with our Lightning swimmers!  Those times keep coming down, and those strokes keep getting stronger.

 

Our swimmers swam their hearts out!  All the cheering, sportsmanship and support for all their teammates is great to watch from my perspective at the starter tent.

Lee's Hill Lightning News - FINAL HOME MEET - MONDAY NIGHT - HELP NEEDED - PICTURE NIGHT

Lee’s Hill Lighting Families,

 

Hopefully the weather is going to cooperate on Monday! But it is going to be HOT!

 

Parents – please feel free to wear a bathing suit!  I really think a 5 minute adult cool down swim might be in order

 

I AM IN NEED OF A LOT OF VOLUNTEERS!!

 

There are a lot of our Trained Officials that have already worked there six sessions! But I still need your help for this last HOME meet.

Everyone – please say a big THANKS to ALL of our Trained Officials!! They not only took the time to get RSL trained – but as you can see – as the season comes to a close they need to work extra sessions just to be able to hold the meet.

Please think about RSL training for a position next year.  Many hands make light work.

We also have other families who have worked well above their requirements!  SO if you are going to have a child swimming on Monday, and have not worked your six – please sign up ASAP.

This is the time to fulfill your volunteer obligation of 3 full meets or 6 half meets.

I hope everyone is excited about our last HOME meet on MONDAY NIGHT! It is against the Lake of the Woods Barracudas!!

 

Here is the schedule for Monday night:

 

We start set up and the pool closes at 4:00 PM

MONDAY NIGHT IS TEAM PICTURE NIGHT!!!

All swimmers should wear their new team shirts for the picture! We will set up exactly as we did at the last home meet!

Our Swimmers should all arrive by 4:00 PM.  Be prompt!

Your swimmers must check in with the coaches by 4:45 PM, or they will be scratched from the meet.

4:45 PM – 5:15 Home Team Warms Up

Visiting team arrives between 4:30 – 5:00 PM

5:20 PM – 5:50 Away Team Warms Up

5:30 PM – Timers for the first and second half of the meet - please report to the concessions area for a meeting with the Head Timer.

5:30 PM – Stroke and Turn Judges and Runners please report to the Starter Tent area for a meeting with the Referee.

5:50 PM – Swimmers for events 1-4 report please report to the Clerk of Course.
