3.)  SAVE the DATE for Flapjack Fundraiser:

We hope that you can help support the team by joining us for our first swim team fundraiser!  We are having a "Flapjack Fundraiser" at Applebee's in Massaponax on Saturday, June 6th from 8-10am.

Tickets are $10, either in advance or at the door, and includes pancakes, sausage, eggs and a beverage-- what a great deal!

Swim team board members have tickets to sell or just show up!  Please share this information and invite your friends and family.

This is a GREAT way for us to raise money to support our swim team expenses--  for each ticket we sell, we receive $6 in profit!!!!

Also, we are in need of kids to help with the serving of food.  Swimmers 11 years and older can help the team by serving food to our patrons.

If you have kids that would be willing to help, please email me (Nikki Hyldahl) at nhyldahl@verizon.net.  (I will bring donuts for the volunteers!!)

I will need about 10 servers to make this fundraiser successful... it should be fun for all involved!

Please spread the word, save the date, and plan to join us for a fun breakfast. Let me know ASAP if your kids can help.

See you on Saturday, June 6th!  Go Lightning!

I know this is a huge time commitment, but that is what it takes to run a swim team. If a family is not working their required times, their swimmer(s) will not be allowed to swim.   In order to make our swimmers’ season fun and successful all parents of registered

swimmers are required to volunteer in order for their child to participate, even if the child does not swim in meets.

Remember that parents are required to work at least six half or 3 whole meets – we need volunteers at home, as well as at away meets.

The sign up for RSL Finals on August 1st will come out towards the end of the season, and every family with a swimmer swimming in finals is required to work if needed.

Online sign-ups

You will need to click on the links to each meet to sign up.

You will be required to put your name and your email address.  SignUpGenius will be sending reminder

emails throughout the summer of your jobs, but please make note of your jobs on your own calendar as well.

Lee's Hill Lightning News - Meet Job Sign Ups Now Online! - VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!

To All Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

First I want to thank everyone for signing up for all the volunteer meet positions during the Ice Cream Social!

If you signed up for jobs at the Ice Cream Social – I HAVE ALREADY ENTERED YOUR INFORMATION INTO SIGNUP GENIUS!!

I have uploaded the first two meets, the Mock Meet @ HOME on Thursday June 11th and Exhibition Meet @ HOME on Wednesday June 17th, and they are NOW live!! I will be adding all the rest of the meets over the next few days.

If you have not registered your swimmers yet for this summer please let us know how we can help! The registration forms and waivers are all on the team website – www.golightning.org

Volunteers are critical to the running of our swim meets. Each season requires over 2500 volunteer hours. Competitive swimming requires parents to be actively involved in all aspects of our swim meets. Timers, judges, concessions attendants,

announcers, starters, and scorekeepers are a few of the positions which are filled by parent volunteers. Volunteering is a requirement for our team.

As in the past, after the Ice Cream Social all the rest of our job sign ups will be made online. Again this year we are using the website: http://signupgenius.com. It makes changes and notifications much easier!  Please follow the directions below to sign up.

Parents do not need certification to time, write ribbons, to be a runner, or many other positions. However, I would like to encourage everyone to obtain at least one required RSL Training Certification for positions of stroke and turn, head score keeper, head clerk

of the course, starter, head timer and referee. I will keep sending out information about upcoming RSL training dates.

As a reminder working the mock meet and finals is not included in the required 6 half meets per family. The mock meet is a very important “rehearsal” for both the swimmers and volunteers.  The mock meet helps to ensure that all our meets will run

smoothly and our swimmers know where they need to be. The sign up for RSL Finals on August 1st will come out towards the end of the season, and every family with a swimmer swimming in finals is required to work if needed.

Online sign-ups

For our meet sign ups this year, we are again using http://www.signupgenius.com

It is a free program that allows me to manage our volunteers.

You will need to click on the links to each meet to sign up.

You will be required to put your name and your email address.  SignUpGenius will be sending reminder

emails throughout the summer of your jobs, but please make note of your jobs on your own calendar as well.

Lee's Hill Lightning News - REMINDER SECOND RSL Training Session - WEDNESDAY Night May 20th at KING GEORGE YMCA @ 7:00 PM

Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

Just a reminder that there is an RSL Training Session at the King George YMCA Wednesday night May 20, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This is the second of six RSL Training Sessions.

If you are interested in Stroke and Turn, or just need to renew, I should be able to get “keys” that are available from the RSL to get the reduced price at StrokeandTurn.com for the course.

We really need some additional Referee’s from our pool of  Stroke and Turn trained officials.  It also makes the meets run much smoother if we use a  Admin Referee to help with the DQ slips.

In addition we are in need of Head Clerk of Course and Starters.

The team really appreciates your willingness to volunteer and become trained. Without all our wonderful volunteers we could not hold our swim meets!

Remember the positions that require RSL training and that need to be renewed are:

Referee – Must renew every year

Starter – Good for two years

Stroke and Turn – Must renew by either attending and RSL training session or completing online training (First timers must do both)

Head Timer – Must renew every two years

Head Scorer – Must renew every two years

Head Clerk of Course – Must renew every two years

I have attached a general description from the RSL rules of all the Officials positions.

I hope to see you there.

Thanks Again to EVERYONE for all the volunteer work you ALL do to make the meets run smoothly!! ALL jobs are important!!

Go Lightning!
