Lee's Hill Lightning Nominations and Elections

Dear Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

As you know, we will have our Awards Banquet with our Annual Business Meeting next week on Sunday, August 6 at the South Pool.  It is a really fun time for our team, but it is also a really important time to meet and elect our new board members.

Our LHST board members have a maximum term of 3 years.  We have a number of board members rotating off the board this year and we will need to elect new board members to fill those vacancies.

At this time, I am asking everyone to think about the following positions and to feel free to nominate yourself, or someone you know and trust, to serve on the board for the Lee’s Hill Lightning.

This is a very important request.  Please feel free to email me your nominations by Saturday at 9:00 PM.    All nominees will go on the ballot and we will have our election on Sunday evening.

The following positions are open:

  • Chairperson

  • Vice- Chair

  • Secretary

  • Concessions- 2 vacancies

  • Fundraising

  • Equipment Chair

  • Spirit / Recruitment

Things to consider:

  • The board has a 3 year maximum term.

  • You don’t necessarily have to stay in the same position all 3 years

  • We meet once per month from January through September- usually it is the last Sunday evening of the month (unless a holiday conflicts) from 6:30-8:30 PM.

  • Most positions don’t take a lot of time or effort in the off season.

  • LHST council duties require a fair amount of time, in order to be done well, most of

which occurs from April to August.

Thank you all for sharing your children with us for our summer swim season!  Please consider being a vital part of the LHST and volunteer!  We have a great board and would love to have you join us on the board!!

Lee's Hill Lightning News - Practice with a Purpose - RSL Finals Week Schedule

Dear Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

We have had a great 2017 swim season so far! Hope everyone is getting ready for RSL Finals!

There are a lot of activities going on next week! I will be sending out more e-mails over the weekend with additional information on RSL Finals and volunteering at Finals.

Next Week’s Schedule:

Practice with a Purpose - Monday

Team Breakfast after Practices – Friday

RSL Finals – Saturday

Award Banquet - Sunday

Thanks to our wonderful families who continue to support us in so many ways, our generous corporate sponsors, and of course an amazing group of swimmers and their families which truly are the backbone of the Lee’s Hill Lightning Swim Team.

THANK YOU for all that you do for the Lee’s Hill Lighting Swims Team and our swim community.

We strive to meet our challenge of keeping reasonable program costs while covering the continually increased pool expenses and our new insurance.

This year we would like to try something new.  We would like to call Monday’s practice – Practice with a Purpose!  The goal is to make this Practice with a Purpose a fundraiser for the team and some very important charities supporting our physically challenged

swimmers in our Lee’s Hill community!

Besides challenging our swimmers to Practice with a Purpose by swimming as many practice laps as they can, we will be: Taking photos of smiling faces & cheering on our teammates as they push towards swimming as many practice laps as they can!

To make this happen, we need two things from you:

  • Your swimmer's participation in the Practice with a Purpose
  • Parent volunteers to help cheer on our swimmers and possibly count laps

WHAT IS PRACTICE WITH A PURPOSE?

On Monday, July 31st, swimmers will swim as many practice laps as they can in any stroke during their normal practice time.

Prior to that event, each swimmer will have the opportunity to raise pledges from family and friends. From the monies raised, the Lee’s Hill Lightning Swim Team will be giving back to the community!

WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO?

Ask relatives, friends, and neighbors to pledge either a flat amount or per lap pledge. Please, no door-to-door asking! Turn in Sponsor Summary Sheet with all donations by RSL Finals on August 5th. Checks cans be made out to LHST.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS! Your assistance is welcome to help count the swimmers practice laps, and CHEER! We hope to build even more comradery amongst our Lee’s Hill Lightning Swim Team family.

We look forward to your participation in our Practice with a Purpose!

Go Lightning!

Lee's Hill Lightning News - Third Home Meet - Team Picture - Flap Jack Fundraiser

Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!

My entire internet/phone/TV from Verizon has been out of service since that very heavy rain on Thursday night.

I am little behind in getting out this e-mail for Wednesday night’s HOME meet.

I am in great need of a few volunteers!  If you have not signed up yet to fulfill your volunteer requirements for the season – there are a lot of timer positions open that do not require any training. For those that have volunteered above and beyond – I thank you all for your dedication to the team.  It means a lot to me, and all our swimmers.  Without the volunteers we cannot have a successful swim meet.

We have our third and final home meet of the year this Wednesday night!  We are swimming the Austin Ridge Rapids!!

It looks like the weather is going to cooperate.

Reminder - Flap Jack Fundraiser is on Saturday Morning!  More information to follow.

Concessions will be open for business!  Remember – concessions is one of our biggest fundraisers.

Just a friendly reminder – children are not allowed in the concession area.

Here is the schedule for Wednesday night:

We start set up and the pool closes at 4:00 PM

Our Swimmers should all arrive by 4:15 PM for the TEAM Picture!!  Be prompt!

Please wear your 2017 shirt for the picture.

Your swimmers must check in with the coaches by 4:45 PM, or they will be scratched from the meet.
