Job Sign Ups:
If you haven't signed up for all 6 jobs, please go to mysignup.com to do so. If you have any questions on jobs email Cathy - olearychamberlain@gmail.com.

We have just 60 families this year, if everyone does there 6 halves we have just enough volunteers. The trick is some of these jobs require training, and we have a limited number of people trained. I ask that all parents check in with our Meet Director - Cathy Chamberlain - when they arrive at the meet to see if she needs volunteers. Sometimes, she may need someone to fill in just until the person signed up can get there.

Our first Home meet is this week. A home meet means more work (and workers - 71) for our team. So all hands on deck!

Now for the details:
Set up people should get to the pool at 4:00pm.
Swimmers should be there at 4:30pm, our warm-ups are at 5:00pm.
Meet starts at 6:00pm.
We sit on the clubhouse side of the pool.

News from the RSL:
Ads are now being taken for the RSL Finals Heat Sheet. This is an opportunity to promote your business, or congratulate/recognize your swimmer. Anyone and everyone can take an ad. The Heat Sheet is basically the program for the Finals, it lists every swimmer in every event. If you know anyone with a business, please ask them to take an ad. Each team is obligated to purchase $200 in ads, once we reach that we make a percentage. The same ads are used in the heat sheets for all four divisions.
The ads sheet is attached and copies will be available in the box. Ads should be submitted on 8x10 paper exactly (size, shape) as you want it to appear. i.e. if you want a 1/2 page ad, it should be on a an 8x10 page with half the page blank. Please submit ads by July 12th.

News from the Board:
There will be at least five (5) Board positions vacated on August 5th. This means we need at least 5 new Board members to step forward. I have asked the current Board members to write up what their position entails (and what it should include). Former Board members, can you help by letting me know what was included in the position you held?

Remember:
Thursday practice is delayed start - 8:00 for oldest group; 8:45 for next; 9:15 for the youngest.

A very HUGE THANK YOU to all the parents that stepped up last night to fill in volunteer spots, and a special THANK YOU to those that worked the whole meet!!!

One meet down, five more and Finals left. Why am I counting down? So you remember that on August 5th we will need several new Board Members. Ask what we do now, don't wait until the end of the season.

Our first home meet is Wednesday, June 27th. Our concession team needs your help - food has been purchased, but it needs to get to the pool on Wednesday by 4:00pm. If you can help contact Tiffany Obenhein - tiffany.obenhein@verizon.net.

Speaking of volunteers - Cathy still has volunteer spots available. You can go to mysignup.com. If you haven't been to this site yet - just enter your email address and a password (whatever you choose), this will register you. Then at the bottom of the page enter leehillswims@yahoo.com. Click on the meet and select any job that says "I'll do". If you have any questions email Cathy - olearychamberlain@gmail.com.

Swim suits - reminder if you need to order a team suit the order form is in the box at the pool, which is available during practices. Jennifer is coordinating this so if you have any questions please email her - runkfamily@yahoo.com.
*NOTE - your child does not need the team suit, but they CANNOT wear a suit with another team's logo or name.

Reminder about the "Missed Meet" Form - please notify Coach Jay by Monday afternoon if your child will not be at the meet. (Don't forget to mention all the swimmers in your family that won't be there). The form is on the website or you can email Coach Jay - usa_aus@verizon.net.

With the heat, please remember to keep your swimmers (and yourself) hydrated especially the day of the meet.

Thanks to everyone that helped on Saturday at the Mock meet. We call it a practice meet for many reasons - one of them is to work through any glitches (and we had a few on Saturday!). Thanks for your patience, too!

Wednesday, June 20th is our first meet at Woodlands. Swimmers should be at the Woodlands pool by 4:30pm.
The meet will begin at 6:00pm. If you haven't signed up for jobs, please go to mysignups.com or contact Cathy Chamberlain - olearychamberlain@gmail.com.

If your swimmer will not be at the meet please let Coach Jay - usa_aus@verizon.net by noon on Monday (they start planning the meet on Monday evening).

When you arrive at the pool:
                    Swimmers should check in with the coaches
                    Parents should check in with Cathy Chamberlain to let her know you are there and ready to work.

Notes from Woodlands: PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE NOT TO PARK!

1)  Your families should set up their chairs/gear in the grass by the deep end of the pool, by concessions.  Overflow goes by the bleachers area by the starting blocks.  There is usually ample room in the concessions area.  If you have any questions, our Board members can guide you.  We usually are easy to find or tracked down.

 

2)  We have full concessions including sno-cones and pretzels (normally, at least).

 

 3)  Directions (regarding parking in the road directly in front of the pool--people sometimes ignore this.  Do so at your own risk.  Sheriffs do show up and ticket.).  Overflow parking is handled quite easily in the surrounding neighborhood, including sidestreets off of Northampton.

DIRECTIONS: From I-95 take exit 143B (GARRISONVILLE) onto westbound GARRISONVILLE RD (VA-610 W). Drive west 2 miles and turn left at the stoplight onto EUSTACE RD (WaWa is on the corner). Proceed south for 0.8 miles to the first stop sign. Turn left at the 4-way intersection onto NORTHAMPTON BLVD; Woodlands Pool is located on the right (southeast corner of the intersection). The parking lot is moderately sized. Overflow parking is available on the shoulders of Eustace Rd, Northampton Blvd, and adjacent neighborhood streets. Do not park in front of the pool on either side of Northampton Blvd -- the sheriff's department will ticket vehicles that obstruct the flow of traffic. Ample deck space.

Greetings everyone,

The first week of morning practice is just about done and Saturday is our annual Mock Meet!! This meet serves several purposes:
1. It gives Coach Jay times for swimmers to help plan meets
2. It gives new swimmers an idea of how a swim goes, practice starting with the starting system etc.
3. It gives parents (old and new) a chance to practice setting up for a meet, and doing their volunteer jobs.

Set up will start about 7:00am
Swimmers should arrive by 7:15am
Swim meet finishes at 10:00am

Fundraiser at Salsarita's (in Southpoint II in front of Lowe's) begins at 1:00pm and runs through 4:00pm. You must bring the attached flyer and give it to your server for the team to earn a percentage. Please encourage friends and family in the area to join us! The more people that use these flyers the more money the team earns.

Parents please remind your swimmers (especially the older ones that come to practice without you) that when they are at practice they need to listen to the Coaches and be in the water swimming.

We have several new families this year - WELCOME!! Don't hesitate to ask any questions - we've all been there and some of us have "done that". There is also an FAQ on the website.

The season is really getting started!! So here are a few reminders, information, etc that you may find helpful.

1. Morning practices begin on Monday June 11th! I've attached the "refrigerator model" it has been corrected (the last meet is Monday July 23rd)
2. If your swimmer(s) will miss a meet, please complete the attached "Missed Meet" form and turn into Coach Jay no later than three days prior to the meet that will be missed. This form is available on the website and in "the box"
3. Saturday June 16th is the Mock meet, this is a morning meet so report time is :

• Sports Fair will be at the Mock meet to sell the new team suit
• If you won't be at the Mock meet - there will be order forms in the front of "the box" - Jennifer will get these and place your order for you to pick up and pay for when you return

4. Fundraiser - at Salsarita's on June 16th from 1p - 4p (after the Mock meet); a copy of the flyer is attached, more will be available in "the box", please share with friends and family the more people we tell, the more will show up, the more money the team will make. Feel free to email it!!
5. We are still looking for someone (several people) to train as Clerk of Course. The efficiency of the clerk directly impacts the length of the meets, so it is our best interest to get a few people trained.
6. Another reminder that several of the Board members (myself included) are in our last year on the Board, please begin considering stepping up.
