LH Lightning vs. College Heights-Thursday June 26

Our 1st home meet is Thursday! Any swimmer who will not be at the meet who has not filled out the "miss meet" form needs to email Coach Jay ASAP at usa_aus@verizon.net . We have had a problem with swimmers entered in meets but not attending, and this does affect relays and entries into fly, back, and breast strokes. The coaches spend a lot of time putting together the meet planner to maximize both individual and team opportunities for scoring points.

Parents are reminded to check the job assignments for Thursday also!

In response to our Lee's Hill Community Association complaints that we began addressing before the season started, a Community Letter was distributed to the residents who live along the streets closest to the North Pool. Please click the link to read the letter. We as a team always need to be good neighbors and good citizens, both swimmers and parents. Please do not block any driveways or park or walk on neighbors' yards. If you see litter, please pick it up. Residents who have complaints are being asked to contact us at the pool so the issues may be resolved in a timely manner. If we are notified that a driveway is blocked, the meet announcer will call out the license plate of the vehicle in order to have it removed. We have a Parking Monitor who will be walking along these routes to ensure that we are not causing undue disruption to our neighbors.

Keep checking the blog for more updates!

Practices on Tuesday morning-from Coach Jay

Tuesday morning practices will be on normal schedule, since we have a 2nd meet on Thursday of this week. Swimmers need to check in with the coaches at Fawn Lake this evening. Plan to arrive at 4:30pm tonight. Even though the meet tonight is an exhibition meet, it is still very important because we need to be able to qualify swimmers in all strokes for Finals in August. Email Coach Jay if you have a question, usa_aus@verizon.net .

Foster's Grille Spirit Event!

Come to Foster's Grille in Cosner's Corner on Friday June 20 to support the team! Invite your friends and neighbors to come also, and don't forget to mention you're from the team. This event covers both lunch and dinner, so choose the best time for your family. You can even call in your order ahead of time.

Another upcoming team event that needs your attention is the Noodles & Co. dinner for swimmers on Tuesday, July 1. We have to give a final count to the restaurant no later than June 25, so email Melissa ASAP to RSVP.

A Few Thoughts For Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who worked last night! An extra thank you to Mark Fischer and Mary Miller who stepped in literally at the last minute to cover absent timers.

Timers: I've updated Volunteer Sheets to include lane assignments for the remaining meets. If these updates don't show when you click the link, refresh the page so it will reload. In the event of a thunderstorm when a meet is called for the night, give your watch to any Lightning Board Member. If you do not see one of us, take the watch home with you and bring it to the next practice. If you're handing your watch to me, I'll be checking your name off so I know where to look if we are missing watches.

Relay Round-Up: Whether you're working a home or away meet you'll be working directly with the coaching staff. Please make sure you are immediately available to them...5:55pm if you're a 1st half worker and at event 55 if you're a 2nd half worker.

Pre-Meet Meetings: Just before every meet [at a time determined by the hosting team] the timers and stroke and turn volunteers for both halves are to meet. Please attend these meetings, even if you're experienced, as the RSL does change information/rules from time to time and this is where you'll hear new information. An announcement is always made around 5pm regarding the time and location of these meetings. If you miss the announcement, you can ask the hosting team's Announcer or a Lightning Board Member.

I am a moving target, so if you cannot find me prior to the meet to check-in, please visit your station (Scoring, Clerk of Course, Concessions, etc.) so they know you're present and can give you any last minute instructions.

Your Out-Going Meet Director,
Stacy Cochrane

Morning Practice-Thursday June 18

Tomorrow’s practices times are 8-8:40 – 13 and older, 8:40-9:20 – 9-12 yrs, 9:20 – 9:55 8 and under.

The Grafton meet ended during event 36 when a thunderstorm with prolonged lightning passed. Our swimmers did a fantastic job in freestyle and butterfly, with lots of personal best times. The remainder of this meet will not be made up. Thanks to all the families who were there to support the team and work your volunteer jobs!

We did have a number of swimmers who were entered in the meet but did not attend. Please fill out a Miss Meet form, located in the swimmers’ box at the pool for any meet that your family will miss. If you have an emergency and are unable to attend, please email Coach Jay at usa_aus@verizon.net.

Swimmers will be able to write down their events for the meet at practice in the morning and have a popsicle. Parents, please wear your Lee's Hill shirts or blue and gold to the meet tomorrow night! Swimmers should arrive at 4:30 and check in with the coaches. A sweatshirt and sweatpants might good for the swimmers to wear between events if the weather tomorrow evening is nice and cool like today.

Message from Kristie Gorman

I will not be at the next two meets. I will be at the swim practice before a meet with all of our products and suits.
This week, as soon as I get the boys jammers I will send out an email of when I will be at the practices. If anyone needs anything or has a question don't hesitate to call me.
Thanks,
Kristie
