Lee's Hill Lightning News - Exciting Announcement!

Dear Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

Well, I know I am longing for warmer weather and our first swim team practice!

In my last e-mail I mentioned that we were actively looking for a new Head Coach.  I am very, very happy to announce that the swim team Board Members have interviewed, offered and hired Claire Hagan to be our Head Coach!! Coach Hagan is currently the Massaponax High School Head Swim Coach and comes to us with many years of swimming and coaching experience. We are very pleased that she had accepted the position.  Her enthusiasm, high energy and commitment to swimming is thrilling!!

All of our great Student Coaches from last year will be returning! We are ecstatic to have Samantha, Bryce, and Gavin returning in 2015. The Board also interviewed Holly Wilkinson for a student coach position.  We are very happy to announce that Holly will be joining our coaching staff as well!  Holly has been a long time swimmer with the team, and I know she is looking forward to working with all the swimmers.

We will be holding our final interviews to round out the coaching staff over the next couple of weeks. If you know anyone that is interested, they must have current Life Guard and CPR certifications prior to the start of the season. We would love to hear from them soon.

The RSL has released the meet schedule. I said in my last e-mail, it was voted on at the February RSL meeting that the Divisions will remain the same for the 2015 Summer Swim Season. However, during the March RSL meeting the topic was brought up and voted on again. The RSL voted to move Ferry Farm up a division and to move Dahlgren down a division. Our team will remain in the American Division.

At this time the swim team calendar looks like this:

Ice Cream Social – May 3rd from 2-4 at the South Clubhouse

Evening Practices - Start on May 26th

Mock Meet – Tentatively planned for Thursday night June 11th. (Instead of making the swimmers get up early on Saturday the 13th after the last day of school on Friday. Thursday is an early release day for Spotsylvania County Schools. Was presented to the HOA but still needs to be approved.)

First Morning Practice – June 15th

Exhibition Meet – June 17th – Home – Spotsylvania YMCA

Meet – June 24th – Away - Dahlgren

Meet – July 1st – Home – College Heights

Meet – July 8th – Away - Chancellor

Meet – July 15th – Home - Grafton

Meet – July 20th (Monday) – Away – Lake of the Woods

Team Breakfast before Finals – July 31st

RSL American Division Finals – August 1st – King George YMCA

Awards Banquet – August 2nd

Just a reminder that Garrett Hawley is still hard at work on his Eagle Project. He is still fund raising for our six new Clerk of Course benches. We are looking for a small donation from as many families that are interested in support of Garrett’s project. These benches will last a very long time for our team.

If you’re interested in financially supporting this project please mail checks or cash to Garrett at:

10313 Colechester Street.

Fredericksburg, VA 22408.

Checks should be made out to Troop 1410.

Your contributions will be greatly appreciated and the project will be completed well before the new season. Thank you!  If you have any questions you can email Garrett at hawleygman@gmail.com.

I am looking forward to another great swim season!

Go Lightning!
