If you have not registered your swimmers yet for this summer please let us know how we can help! The registration forms and waivers are all on the team website – www.golightning.org , or come by the pool during practice.

Volunteers are critical to the running of our swim meets. Each season requires over 2500 volunteer hours. Competitive swimming requires parents to be actively involved in all aspects of our swim meets. Timers, judges, concessions attendants,

announcers, starters, and scorekeepers are a few of the positions which are filled by parent volunteers. Volunteering is a requirement for our team.

Again this year we are using the website: http://signupgenius.com. It makes changes and notifications much easier!  Please follow the directions below to sign up.

I know this is a huge time commitment, but that is what it takes to run a swim team. If a family is not working their required times, their swimmer(s) will not be allowed to swim.   In order to make our swimmers’ season fun and successful all parents of registered

swimmers are required to volunteer in order for their child to participate, even if the child does not swim in meets.

Remember that parents are required to work at least six half or 3 whole meets – we need volunteers at home, as well as at away meets.

Parents do not need certification to be lane timers, write ribbons, to be a runner, or many other positions. However, I would like to encourage everyone to obtain at least one required RSL Training Certification for positions of stroke and turn, head score keeper,

head clerk of the course, starter, head timer and referee. There are only two more RSL training dates.

As a reminder working the mock meet and finals is not included in the required 6 half meets per family. The mock meet is a very important “rehearsal” for both the swimmers and volunteers.  The mock meet helps to ensure that all our meets will run

smoothly and our swimmers know where they need to be. The sign ups for finals will come at the end of the season.
