Lee's Hill Lightning News - AWAY Swim Meet with Dahlgren on June 24th - King George YMCA

Lee’s Hill Lightning Families,

I hope that everyone had a great weekend!!

We are getting ready for this week’s AWAY meet against Dahlgren.

I still need some volunteers in the following positions.  As indicated below in the e-mail below, we will be using 8 lanes for the first half of the meet, and six lanes for the second half of the meet. I have timers signed up for 8 lanes for the entire meet.

So, some of those second half timers in lanes 1 & 8, might need to move into other positions.

Volunteers are still needed for:

The RSL Representative from Dahlgren sent us the following information:

There is plenty of parking. I ask that swimmers and family use the back parking and leave the upfront parking for the members, as the Y will still be open while the meet is going on.

However, our pool is awkwardly shaped and all stroke and turn judging will need to be done at the end of the pool.

We do not have a big pool deck. So we are asking people to camp outside of the pool and come in to see their swimmers swim. We will have the far pool door for spectators to enter and watch. We will also have the door up front by the blocks for clerk of course only. Bathrooms in the pool area will be available for use. However, the lobby will be blocked off and we asked spectators to stay out of there. This is where we will have scoring set up. We will have concessions set up outside where we would like you to set up camp.

Our warm ups end at 5:15, so you can begin warm ups then. (Lightning Swimmers should arrive at the pool at 4:45 to get settled and ready for warmups) We also have an eight lane pool. So first half, to get through freestyle quicker, we plan to use all 8 lanes. Then, for the 2nd half we will go down to a 6 lane pool and use lanes 2 through 7. Please make sure you have enough volunteers for 8 lanes for first half. Also please make sure your head timer knows to put volunteers in lanes 2 through 7. Being able to use 8 lanes for the first half has reduced our meets running time. It’s very nice.

Please remind your coaches that the seeding cards and team program is due to clerk by 5pm. This will help the meet to run smoothly and start on time.

We are planning to have a superhero theme meet. Fill free to dress up and join us in the fun.

Last year we had our starter fixed. It is now in working condition, but could you bring yours just in case. Thank you in advance.

If there is a rain delay, everyone is welcomed inside. You do not need to go to your car. Life guards will instruct us on where they want us to go.

If you need any other information or have any special request please don’t hesitate to email me or call.
